Unnamed Brother (Burgundy) Blog Entry |

November 15, 2024, 12:02:07 AM 11/15/24: r/SketchDaily theme, "Free Draw Friday." This week's characters from my anthro WWII storyline are an entire family sans one: Unnamed Father; Unnamed Mother; Unnamed Brother; and Unnamed Wife. They're the family of 2nd Lt. Burgundy Rat. Burgundy's father is deceased, and he's estranged from the others during the main story as there was some drama in their past. There'll be more about them later in my art Tumblr and Toyhou.se. Regarding their design, Burgundy and his brother largely resemble their father, while Burgundy shares his mother's eye color. And dang I wish I hadn't given his wife such distinctive colors as she barely appears in anything, ah well. TUMBLR EDIT: Entries modified hereafter to avoid repetition. Most relevant info has been given in Unnamed Father's entry. Regarding Unnamed Brother, his entire personality ends up shaped by his overbearing mother, so that he never really gets much chance to become his own person; however, I suppose it could be argued that the seeds of who he'd become were always there. Maybe he just has that little something broken about him like his mother, and despite her insistence to the contrary, it's Burgundy and his father who are the sane ones. Hard to say. I can say that Unnamed Brother develops a genuinely cruel streak, bordering on sociopathic. He finds lots of increasingly complex, subtle ways to get at his brother, not even for any particular reason--since Unnamed Mother favors him, and they both disdain Unnamed Father--just to be spiteful. In childhood he frequently plays mean pranks on Burgundy and gets him in trouble with their mother; in their teen and young adult years he mocks him, such as when he learns Burgundy is attending medical school; and after Burgundy's marriage he pulls the cruelest stunt of all, attempting to seduce his wife. Not even because he's interested in her...just to be cruel. He effectively breaks up the marriage before going on his way, presumably back to Mother, the only person just as hateful and broken as he is. Unnamed Brother is there simply to make Burgundy miserable; he succeeds, though only temporarily (Burgundy escapes his family's influence by shipping out to Germany), and to be quite honest, I figure Unnamed Brother and Unnamed Mother are the most miserable ones of all.
