*Herr Wozniak's actual family name is indeed Wozniak. He and his wife and son are all Polish nationals, though he and Frau Wozniak live in Germany prior to their son's birth and again afterward, and are granted German citizenship. After the rise of the Nazi Party, he and his wife concoct the story that they are actually of German descent, with the family name originally being Woschnagg; given how long they lived in Poland, they claim they "Polishized" the family name to fit in better with the local population. He and his wife bribe several higher-ups in the Waffen-SS to overlook their son's ancestry and alter his documents for membership. The result is that, while several officers in the SS are aware of his actual ancestry, most of his comrades are not, and believe that Woschnagg is the actual family name.
