Dorothea is statuesque and Aryan, a country girl; her hands are callused and her muscles lean from hard work, yet she's also absurdly attractive and could easily be mistaken as a "blond bimbo." She wears her long blond hair braided in various styles. She wears simple country dresses or occasionally dirndls (which aren't part of the local style) which usually--at General Schavitz's demand--accentuate her figure and push up her breasts, although she despises this. Schavitz forces himself on Dorothea during their first encounter; she's not attracted to men, and finds him especially reprehensible. However, she knows that the more she fights back, the more likely he is to more frequently target the other, younger maids, as well as keep bringing teenage schoolgirls to the castle; so she tolerates his interest now despite her disgust. He gives her the gold ring she always keeps on her person and occasionally gives her other gifts and special treatment. She, meanwhile, frequently daydreams about murdering him, and can hardly wait for the day she can leave his employ (and sell her ring for money).
Rosina Kestler (Lover/Partner)
Dorothea is immediately attracted to the shy, young, pretty SS-Helferin who visits Schavitz's castle with her superiors, and Kestler likewise promptly falls head over heels for her. They only get to see each other from afar, though Dorothea manages to track Kestler down as she's fleeing the city in the wake of the Allies' advance, and they escape to start a new life together.
