Trudi is a poodle with folded/drop ears and short fur. She's of tall height (for a woman); with a slender/androgynous body type; has brown eyes; and has cream fur and sandy blond hair.
Trudi was born an intersex male; surgery, combined with her existing medical condition, has resulted in her possessing both male and female genitalia as well as small breasts (gynecomastia). Her voice is slightly deeper and huskier than usual but passes as feminine; this is the only indication she gives of her birth gender and she otherwise passes successfully. She typically wears simple but flattering dresses in light, washed-out colors, and flats. She's good at blending into the background; others often don't even notice she's there.

Trivia
*Trudi's condition is likely persistent Müllerian duct syndrome, in which a biological male develops internal female reproductive organs. In this particular instance, young Gerwin and his mother decide on surgery to create a vaginal opening, yet also to make the testes descend and to keep the rest of the genitalia intact (breast augmentation is unnecessary due to gynecomastia). Gerwin, now Gertraud, is biologically an intersex male but chooses to identify as female.
*The "clinic" her mother initially consults for aid with her condition is very loosely based on the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, which in reality under Nazi Germany was ransacked, its archives burned, and forced to shut down.
