Copper dresses in the standard Trench Rat attire of a modified Pickelhaube and Prussian-style uniform, copper cape, and armband with lance corporal's stripe. He wears a dime pendant on his person at all times. He can either take charge or blend into the background; he's especially skilled at going unnoticed. He has a casual, open, easily approachable demeanor that some might find too laid back; he rarely raises his voice or loses his temper. *Although Catholic, Copper is highly superstitious, and follows many Creole Hoodoo folk beliefs. Primary among these are wearing a dime around his neck for good luck, and placing faith in visions and revelations. He claims to be from a family of "sensitives"--people with psychic/visionary abilities--though he says the talent skipped over him. When Turquoise displays his own psychic abilities--especially his clairvoyant vision of the German attack on Trench Rat Headquarters, and of the ambush awaiting Charlie Company in the forest--Copper accepts the information without question, and Charlie Company escapes without any losses. He's the first to believe in Turquoise's abilities as a "sensitive" and suggests he use his talent for empathy to help the Trench Rats locate wounded/captive persons and hidden enemies. For him, these sorts of abilities aren't outlandish or difficult to believe, they're simply a part of life.
