The Albrechts' adult son had an unspecified developmental disability which fit many of the modern-day criteria of an autism-spectrum disorder, though specialists labeled him merely as "slow/stupid." He was unable to read, was prone to temper tantrums, and was obsessively interested in his father's old model trains.
