Rudolf von Dobermann Blog Entry |
December 8, 2023, 3:00:18 AM 12/8/23: r/SketchDaily theme, "Free Draw Friday." This week's character from my anthro WWII storyline is Rudolf von Dobermann. He's a baron and is Ilse's husband and Louis's father. Like Ilse, he dies long before the main story. There'll be more about him later in my art Tumblr and Toyhou.se. Regarding his design, he's a fawn-and-tan doberman pinscher like the rest of the family. And yes, that's a mustache. TUMBLR EDIT: Rudolf's character hasn't been largely developed yet as he's minor and appears only in flashback/backstory, and even there, it's his wife Ilse and younger son Louis who take up most of the spotlight. He's a traditional Junker type, a bit stuck in the old ways, but otherwise rather genial and goodnatured. He loves attending social gatherings with Ilse and making large charitable donations to various causes. He expresses some concern about Louis being "soft," as the boy is very quiet and reclusive and doesn't like hunting and roughhousing and all that, yet accepts him and his quirks although he doesn't really "get" him. When Louis later joins the army near the outbreak of the Great War, in fact, Rudolf is very cautious; he doesn't try to dissuade him like Ilse does, but does seem worried for his son's welfare. He understands and gets along much better with his younger brother Ewald and his older son Horst while Ilse figures out how to manage dealing with Louis's shyness. He's never a judgemental or disapproving father, he just...isn't on the same wavelength as Louis. Anyway, in lieu of writing up a whole 'nother entry with so little info yet, I've already discussed Rudolf a little bit in Ilse's entry, so you can look there for more for now.
