The Ameni Chronicles Character/Story Info

DISCLAIMER: Please NOTE that some of my writing and character summaries feature ADULT/SENSITIVE THEMES, including but not limited to: violence, sexuality, adult language, bigotry, child abuse, rape, substance abuse, trauma, mental illness, illegal activity, suicide, "alternative" lifestyles, and the occult. Naturally, I will not post my more objectionable work here, though there will be references to the above in character profiles and in writing I might post to the site. I'll attempt to include the proper disclaimers when this occurs.

Ameni, a human, finds himself torn between two worlds when circumstances beyond his control ensure his slavery at the hands of the merciless warrior Apsiu. He becomes the personal slave of the powerful Apsiu captain Nehekhi, and comes to know Nehekhi's other slaves and comrades. Life as the slave of an Apsiu can be very difficult...but it can also be very pleasurable, as Ameni learns. For the Apsiu are not entirely without their passions...and Ameni just happens to have caught the eye of not only Nehekhi, but others as well... A series full of love, lust, honor, betrayal, and conflict between two different worlds.

CONTENT WARNINGS

I can't cover for every objectionable topic that may emerge in this storyline. The Ameni Chronicles is hard NC-17 and not permissible on most online platforms. (I hope to edit out/tone down some more problematic content in the future though this won't much affect the overall rating.)

Generic warnings: Adult language, adult dialogue, adult situations, graphic violence, graphic sexuality.

More specific warnings: This is an anthro storyline set in ancient Egypt, featuring an original race/culture consisting of a superior class and an inferior slave class which are considered property. There is much reference to cultural traditions including slavery, relationships of dubious consent, misogyny, domestic/sexual violence, abuse, etc. As the lifespan was shorter, women often had children in their teens, and in this culture possess very few rights.

Although I will post NO GRAPHIC CONTENT on this site (my content here should remain PG-13 and below), there is lots of mention of such things in character profiles and world information. Here's an attempted partial list of trigger/content warnings: Reference to and casual treatment of sexual harassment and assault. Vulgar/offensive language. Child abuse. Torture. Religious themes. Suicide and suicidal ideation. References to trauma and mental illness, including outdated terms and methods of treatment. Prostitution. Slavery. Reference to abortion. LGBT+ themes. Domestic violence. Implied dominant/submissive relationships. Alcohol and drug use/abuse/addiction. Classism/class discrimination. Execution and mass murder. Physical/medical injury/disability. Sexual discussion/language/innuendo. Animal death. Miscarriage. Dubious consent/nonsonsensual relationships. Implied sexual fetishes. Other possible warnings I'm forgetting.

DISCLAIMERS

This is an anthropomorphic storyline set in ancient Egypt, featuring an original species/race. Although aspects of their culture are inspired/influenced by the ancient Egyptians, the culture is a creation of the author, and should not be taken as representative of actual ancient Egyptian culture.

STORYLINE HISTORY/INSPIRATION

I no longer remember the specific inspiration for Ameni, Nehekhi, and what became the Ameni Chronicles (a loose name, as in later chapters, Ameni as the main character rather falls by the wayside). The earlier novella "Antakh Of The Apsiu," featuring a character who appears in Horus, was written for a college creative writing class; I recall taking up nearly the whole class time reading it aloud (part of the assignment), and when I finished the class was dead silent before the instructor said, "Wow"...then proceeded to tell me everything that was wrong with the story, nothing that was right. Thus continued the long tradition of me learning the hard way that even though a handful of people claim to have enjoyed my writing, I'll never be taken seriously by "real writers," and should not bother seeking publication. I've long since given up seeking even constructive criticism (in my experience, writers don't know how to give this in a manner that helps the creator, they simply like to savagely tear each other down...I don't know why, nobody cares for tactful honesty anymore) and just put all my work out there for free, no hope for publication. People don't read it for free anyway so why go to the trouble.

Anyway..."Antakh" may have been one of my first explorations of the Apsiu race, which was itself loosely inspired by the gargoyles from Ultima VI: The False Prophet, which I played on desktop back in the late 1990s. The original version has many inconsistencies with the Apsiu as I know them today. I attempted answering worldbuilding questions before deciding to just learn through writing itself. What was originally intended as a standalone adult story (which I printed out and kept in a black binder under my bed, thus the old name for my adult writing, the Black Binder) soon turned into a lengthy, ongoing series which largely taught me how to write adult material. I later added extra ("lost") chapters to fill in gaps in the story. However, much of this was written while I was exploring problematic concepts which I no longer feel comfortable having in the story as is; I hope to edit them out someday so that the series, while it'll still have about the same rating and amount of adult content, will be more palatable for its intended audience. I don't know if/when I'll get the chance, however, and I may end up privating the entire series in the few spots it's posted until this can be addressed.

I haven't worked on the story in a long while; I go years without any comments on any of my work, though I did get a query or two about where TAC is posted and if there are more chapters. Although there is lots of plot and character development, this is a VERY adult content-heavy story, so unless I should ever do a tamed-down rewrite and/or a load of creative excerpting, I have no plans to post it here, I doubt it would be allowed.

Incidentally, "Antakh Of The Apsiu" started to undergo its own adult-oriented rewrite/reimagining, though it remains a WIP for now.

RANDOM OBSERVATIONS

Recurring themes: The clash of cultures. Losing yourself. Superior, inferior, ambiguity, shifting positions. Class struggle. What it means to be "human." Misunderstanding. Bigotry based on ignorance or fear. Is this all there is for us? How your life can change in the blink of an eye. Human or beast, who writes the definitions. Traces of fluidity even in strict unchanging tradition. Seeing through different eyes.
