December 24, 2021, 1:43:39 AM 12/24/21: r/SketchDaily theme, "Free Draw Friday." This Friday's character portrait attempt is Moon Wolf (figured I should get him out of the way since he's a major character in my serial). He's the only character I have so far for whom I know his childhood name (Little Thorn--his father's name was The Shrike); to be honest I don't even know if this is standard practice in my story. Anyway, he's a medicine man...it's kind of complicated. He used to belong to the Grand Medicine Society but left it to become a different type of medicine man, a wabano, who works with fire and has a shady reputation. Long story short, he vowed to himself never to abuse his powers like his father had but ended up making an awful bargain and doing exactly that, and so banished himself to a cave that is a lot bigger on the inside than on the outside, kind of like the TARDIS. (And that there is the sum total of my Dr. Who knowledge.) My protagonist arrives on the Island and this guy decides he's going to teach her what he knows and things pick up from there. That's the very very very condensed version. The tattoo design is conjectural, but here it's supposed to resemble an inverted sun. (The wabanos are associated with the east and the dawn.)
