November 13, 2021, 1:47:56 AM 11/13/21: r/SketchDaily theme, "Piggyback." Yesterday was supposed to be Free Draw Friday and I forgot! So I'm making up by submitting character art today. Here's Lt. Andrew Barrington from my Manitou Island fantasy serials. He's a 1700s British soldier who gets transported to the Island, meets the locals and 21st-century protagonist Charmian, and doesn't handle it well at first. He's also a really big jerk but eventually comes around. I used to picture him with brown hair but his daughter in a future timeline has kind of auburn hair so I gave his more of a red tinge. I'm unsure of his eye color in the text. You may notice a small difference in the eyes as I've finally come around to highlighting/shading them properly, with the lighter color OPPOSITE the white highlight to convey depth rather than convexity. I've only recently started to understand this and kind of wish I could redo the eyes on my other portraits. I figure they'll get redone someday as I try to improve my skills. Sigh.
