July 21, 2019, 3:54:34 AM March 19, 2021, 2:29:24 AM March 20, 2021, 3:31:40 PM 7/21/19: Non-r/SketchDaily effort, I stayed up a bit too late last night making an effort at Manitou Island character Augwak the Wendigo GeeBee. Unlike most of my characters, 3/4 views of GeeBees are pretty easy for me to draw. Guess it helps that GeeBees basically all look alike... He looks a bit more maniacal than I'm used to though I'm not sure why. Maybe I got something wrong. Maybe he's hungry. Hm. I plan to use this when I upload Augwak to my Toyhou.se account. I so rarely have the chance to actually show what my characters look like (and feel even halfway satisfied with them). The previous version can be found HERE and it's really not so bad. Well, I finished the linework for this one yesterday, with the full intent to color him in and post him...but he REALLY bugs me. So tonight I tried drawing him again, even right after drawing him. That drawing will be coming along soon but until then you have this travesty to look at. EDIT: And I typed that up as I was half asleep and not fully aware of what I was doing so it's really weird reading it now, huh. Kinda amazed I spelled everything right and didn't just drift off into a string of gibberish like I usually do. Anyway, goodnight. [Augwak Sketch--Failure [Friday, March 19, 2021, 2:29:24 AM]] 3/20/21: ...And since I didn't get to work on any new portraits last night, as promised, here's everybody's favorite Chief Of The Cannibal Wendigo GeeBees, Augwak. Similar to Chakenapok, Augwak's a sheer joy to write, with his boundless selfish opportunism, backstabbing (this dude would seriously sell out his own mother, if he had one), and tendency toward shrieking fits. Ironically, protagonist Charmian has realized that it's infinitely better to help keep him in charge of the other GeeBees rather than let someone smarter take over...which is a plot point that arises in the unwritten serial Beneath Manitou Island. At least she understands Augwak, and can keep a leash on him...sort of...sometimes. I imagine him sounding a lot like a hysterical version of John Kassir's Crypt Keeper.
