July 30, 2021, 5:00:23 AM 7/30/21: r/SketchDaily theme, "Free Draw Friday." Russell Whittaker, a character of mine. Doesn't look quite as I imagined him but maybe I'll do better some other day. Tumblr edit: Since I didn't feel like posting my typical wall of text to Reddit. Russell is another of my characters with DID, but despite a messy and messed-up life, he's handled things pretty well and somehow manages to keep an unusually optimistic outlook. Yes, he's meant to look somewhat childish. Everyone who knows him can't figure out why he's so cheery and trusting and positive. He comes across as naive and indeed has a habit of letting people use him, BUT this is usually on his own terms, and he does learn from experience who he should avoid in the future. So in a strange way his trust in others works out for him. (His suppressed anger mostly manifests in his primary alter named Miles.) His hair color I couldn't get quite right, it's actually based on the hair of a childhood acquaintance (named Russell--my Russell isn't based on him in any other way, though), which was this unusual grayish-dark-blond I can't quite describe. Dishwater blond? Anyway, it ended up looking too much like mousy brown hair such as that my characters Det. Rosedale and Lt. Kincaid have, so...not sure how to depict the difference. I also didn't picture it being this thick and curly (I think it's more wavy), but hair texture/style is also something I struggle to draw.
