Juliana Lockett Blog Entry |
November 5, 2021, 1:58:58 AM 11/5/21: r/SketchDaily theme, "Free Draw Friday." Back to weekly character portrait attempts. Here's Juliana "July" Lockett, a secondary character from one of my novels. Since nobody reading this has read that, in it July is described as having brown hair cut just above her ears. That's not quite how I picture her anymore. I rather picture her with black hair, but I think that'd make her look too similar to another character of mine, so I went with dark brown after all, but the style is longer. The story takes place in the Nineties and I imagine her as a slightly gothy/punky type, thus the red hair streak and nose piercing (I attempted a ring but it was too obvious for a character who spends her life flying below the radar); it's a good thing I decided to go back and give her eyeshadow (I'd forgotten), as I did her eye a bit wrong. Anyway, she doesn't live out the novel but she does cast a pretty long shadow over the rest of the projected (unwritten, of course) series. This is my first official/finished character portrait done in IbisPaint X rather than the defunct (but so far still functional) Sony Sketch; both the lineart brush and the glitter brush were made by me in an attempt to re-create Sketch brushes. End of an era, I guess. [Juliana Lockett 2021 [Friday, November 5, 2021, 1:58:58 AM]] |
