Not thrilled with him, but as with an earlier sketch, I guess he can be a placeholder. As usual, the hair is most of the issue though not the only one. He's supposed to look kind of boyish, though not like a kid; unfortunately, my drawing didn't capture that. :/ I tried to make him look chubby since he's a pudgy, nebbishy little guy. And TIL that "nebbish" is a noun, not an adjective. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Henny-Penny (as Jay Campion calls him) doesn't have as dull a history as his appearance suggests, which you can read HERE. On Christmas I post my latest attempt at character art since I have nothing better to do. Here's a redo of Leslie Henrick, and it looks a bit better than the current portrait, found HERE. I could've done a better double chin, I suppose. How to convey an attitude of mixed anxiety, irritation, longing, and disgust such as that Henny-Penny experiences every time he interacts with his charge Campion...? How, indeed. And I notice that these drawings look okay close up but when I see them in thumbnail they look hideous, like the faces are too narrow/pushed forward too far on the neck...hard to explain, but it's especially obvious in my previous Jeremy Virtanen portrait, which makes me cringe even more each time I look at it.
