Cat Hunting |
Shoulderblades bunched up beneath the black coat Tail flicking quickly from left side to right, Long whiskers twitching as narrow eyes gleam-- Hunting cat creeps low in shadows of night. Under the stove now, a beady eye blinks! A pink nose twitches to sniff out the air, Tiny paws pat as the mouse makes his run-- Eager to roam, of danger unaware. And now a shadow descends upon him! Lightning claws flash, the last sight for his eyes, The cat's teeth sink deep in velvet-gray fur-- And now she trots off to show off her prize. --1998 |
